Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting for Dental Professionals
Presented by Angela M. Stout, DMD, MPH, a pediatric dentist in private practice in Erdenheim, PA. Dr. Stout has no relevant financial relationships to report.

PDA's program, Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting for Dental Professionals, is approved by the Department of Human Services and the PA State Board of Dentistry and will fulfill Act 31 mandatory CE requirements for licensed dental professionals (dentists, hygienists and EFDAs). PDA’s program is custom designed for dental professionals and offers two CE credits that can be applied toward the hours you need to renew your dental license. 
Upon completion of the course, the participant will:

  • Understand categories of child abuse as defined by the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Recognize universal child abuse indicators.
  • Recognize clinical and intraoral pathologies of physical and sexual abuse.
  • Understand the legal responsibilities as mandated reporters.
  • Know when, how and where to report suspected abuse, and what happens after a report is made.
  • Understand the protections for reporters and penalties for failure to report.

ATTENTIONAttendees will be asked to provide their full name, license number, date of birth and the last 4 digits of their social security number. PDA will transmit this information to the state to verify that you completed the course.

What to expect for this virtual course:
Beginning January 8, attendees will receive an email with a link to provide their name and email address to register with Zoom and receive a personalized link to join the webinar. Each attendee must watch the program on their own device and use a device that allows you to view and hear the presentation. Please note that the emails with the link to join the webinar will come from Rebecca Von Nieda (no-reply@zoom.us).  We will track attendance and award CE credit. If we do not have your name on the attendance report generated after the virtual meeting, you will not receive credit for the course. Those who are logged in for the entire course will receive an electronic survey from PDA to provide their full name, license number, date of birth and the last 4 digits of their social security number. PDA will transmit this information to the state to verify that you completed the course.

To register online please follow these steps: 
Non-dentist dental team members who are not attending the course with a dentist must contact Rebecca Von Nieda via email regarding online registration. If you create your own account you may be charged the wrong registration fee.
1. Sign in to the website. Every dentist has a record. For most dentists, your website default username is your first initial, last name and four-digit year of birth with no spaces. The default  password is lowercase ada and your ADA number. If you need assistance with your username and password, please contact Rebecca via email. 
2. Click the Register Myself button. Pricing will be applied based on your member status. NOTE: The Register Myself button will not appear if you are not signed in to the website (check that your name is displayed at the top of the screen)
3. To register non-dentist (hygienists, assistants or non-licensed guests) attendees for the course, click +Add a Guest under "My Registration Status:" to add your guest. If you have previously attended a PDA program with a non-dentist guest, that person may appear as an existing contact. Please use unique email addresses for all attendees. 
4. Click Proceed to Checkout to review your order and enter your credit card information. 
5. Click Submit Order to complete your registration. You will receive a confirmation email.
