How will my contribution be used?
Depending if your contribution is by personal payment (hard dollars) or corporate/business payment (soft dollars), your contribution will either go to candidates approved by the PAC Board or administrative purposes.

What is the difference between “hard” and “soft” dollars?
Hard Dollars
Hard dollars are contributions made with a personal check or credit card. Only hard dollars may be used for political campaign contributions. PDA must know when contributions are made with a personal check or credit card in order to comply with state and federal election laws.

Soft Dollars
Soft dollars are contributions made with a corporate check or credit card. Only soft dollars may be used for administrative purposes, such as assisting district or local dental societies with a fundraising event. PDA must know when contributions are made with a corporate check or credit card in order to comply with state and federal election laws.

Who is being solicited for PADPAC contributions?
PADPAC will only solicit individuals who currently satisfy the requirements for membership and regularly pay dues.

Are contributions to PADPAC tax deductible?
No. Contributions made to PADPAC are not tax deductible on your income taxes.

How much of my contribution goes to ADPAC, the American Dental Association’s political action committee, ADPAC?
ADPAC and PADPAC maintain a voluntary agreement. Funds received by PADPAC are split between PADPAC and ADPAC. The breakdown of the contributions is: $40 of every $100 hard dollar contribution is sent to ADPAC to fund key U.S. House and Senate legislators. The remainder is kept by PADPAC to fund state candidates. A lump sum of soft dollars in the amount of $1,500 is sent to ADPAC once per year.
