Updating Hot Button Drug Topics of Interest to Dentistry in 2020
Six CE credits recommended for dentists, hygienists and assistants.
This lecture will present an update of the latest drug and supplement issues described in recent scientific publications and mainstream media that are relevant to dental practice. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-- describe the latest guidelines on antibiotic use, analgesic use, osteonecrosis of the jaw and various conditions premedicated with antibiotics.
-- describe the "appropriate use concept" from orthopedic surgeons on premedicating the joint prosthetic patient undergoing dental surgery.
-- list the hot button supplements and compare their health benefits.
-- list the National Science Foundation purported medical benefits and adverse reactions of medical marijuana.
-- describe the heroin epidemic in America.
-- list the most recent findings on cardioprotective aspirin and the management of patients on Pradaxa, Xarelto and Eliquis.
-- describe the new findings on moderate alcohol consumption.
-- describe the latest drug developments in anti-aging research.
-- describe the relationship between CRP, periodontal disease and risk of heart attack.
