Dental Trauma--Practices for Immediate and Long-Term Care

6 CE credits appropriate for dentists, assistants and EFDAs
Education Method: powerpoint, lecture, case studies and discussion

Injuries to the teeth can occur at any age and clinicians need to be prepared to administer appropriate emergency treatment while focusing on the long-term esthetic, function and health of the oral cavity.  Using case scenarios, Dr. Ray will discuss the diagnosis and clinical management of crown fractures, horizontal intra-alveolar root fractures, luxations and avulsions for both the adult and pediatric patient. Dr. Ray also will discuss the prevention and management of complications after trauma.
Presented by Herbert L. Ray, Jr., DMD, who is in a private practice with his sister, Dr. Heidi Ray, and is an associate professor in the Endodontic Department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
- assess a trumatic injury to the teeth
- manage different types of traumatic injuries to mature and immature teeth
- address complications such as root resorption
