PDA Statement on Racial Injustice

The Pennsylvania Dental Association’s Statement on Racial Injustice is the result of the work of our Diversity Inclusion Task Force (DITF), a subcommittee of the Membership Committee.

In addition to our statement, to demonstrate that all PDA members are valued and to provide a supportive environment, DITF developed and approved the following definition of diversity that has been unanimously adopted by the PDA Board of Trustees:

Resolved:  That the Pennsylvania Dental Association adopt the following as its policy on Diversity and Inclusion.

07/21BT20

PDA defines diversity of members, leaders and the public through many dimensions, including, but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, dental degree, gender identity, career phase, physical abilities/qualities, sexual orientation, parental status, socio-economic status, religious and ideological beliefs, professional practice choices, geographic practice setting, and personal lifestyle preferences.

The PDA is committed to a culture of diversity and inclusion to foster a safe and equitable environment for its membership and to actively discourage discrimination. In this environment, representation matters and every member is provided intentional opportunities to make meaningful contributions. Diverse viewpoints and needs are heard, valued and respected.

The PDA embraces diversity and inclusion to drive innovation and growth, ensures a relevant and sustainable organization and deliver purposeful value to members, prospective members, and stakeholders. The PDA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion will further advance the dental profession, improve the oral health of the public and achieve optimal health for all.

Taking a Stand Against Asian Hate

The Pennsylvania Dental Association is working to support individuals who experience hatred and prevent all forms of bias, inequity and discrimination.

PDA has been deeply saddened by ongoing high frequency incidents of harassment and xenophobic violence directed towards those of Asian descent across the country. Join us in taking a stand against Asian hate and work to support individuals who experience hatred.

We aspire to develop and sustain the culture and reputation of the PDA as an organization that values and nurtures diversity and inclusiveness in our leadership, membership and the communities that we serve.
